Well, it has been far too long since I did one of these posts (I checked and it’s basically a month). I’ve missed you all, lovelies! I hope you’ve had a wonderful few weeks, there has been plenty going on here. I don’t know about you but I’m struggling to come to terms with the fact that, not only is it June, we’re actually fast approaching July (and my 29th birthday, ohmygod). Anyway, let’s deal with the task at hand and focus on this week; here’s what got me smiling.
Don’t forget to share your stories with me in the link up below! I love hearing about what you’ve been doing and the positivity that you’ve all been enjoying.
1. Comedy improv
Last week, one of my beautiful work friends, Jocelyn, took me to a comedy improvisation night at a pub in town. I was feeling quite skeptical to begin with and feared the possibility of it all becoming a bit awkward and cringeworthy. However, I was more than happily proved wrong and I finished the night with a sore throat and a sore stomach from laughing so much. The theme was a murder mystery and the audience were responsible for picking the location and the characters. Everything else was down to the actors as they weaved their way through an absolutely ridiculous, yet brilliant, storyline. We had so much fun and it was definitely a highlight of the week!
2. A trip to Hertfordshire
On Saturday, we drove three hours southwards to scorching blue skies and sunshine in Hertfordshire. Naturally I was dressed completely inappropriately because, when we left Manchester, it was grey and raining (as usual). The purpose of the trip was to celebrate lovely Beth’s birthday and we did so in style with copious amounts of pizza and an incredibly long game of Cards Against Humanity. Beth was definitely the hostess with the mostess and we had a great time relaxing and celebrating with her all weekend. Huzzah!
3. Wonderful friends
Do you ever sometimes just take stock of your life and feel incredibly grateful for all of the people in it? This week, my friends have been absolute diamonds, all entirely without prompt. There’s nothing more reassuring than speaking to one of your best friends in the whole world and finishing the phonecall feeling full of love and admiration. Nothing brings a smile to my face quite like Beth knowing that I’ve been struggling to get motivated and giving me an unexpected pep talk just when I needed it. And nothing makes me more delighted than going to work with some of my favourite people in the world everyday. I’m so lucky.
4. The return of my motivation
I’ve blogged three times this week, had a productive week at work, and managed to be sort of organised in the life admin arena. Which, given my form over the past few weeks, is verging on miraculous. Beth’s pep talk obviously worked! I clearly needed a break but it has been really refreshing to get back to feeling like I’m on top of things a bit more. I mean, it’s not going to last because I’m at Glastonbury next week but it’s good for the time being!
5. Gaining confidence
On Monday, I ran 5k and didn’t feel like I was going to die. In fact, I actually might have enjoyed it (I know, who the hell do I think I am?!) I have been eating pretty healthily on the whole and am thoroughly enjoying being vegetarian too. I now take my make up off properly at night (yes I’m an adult!) and I had a wardrobe sort-out that has left me feeling cleansed. All of this has led to me feeling just that little bit happier with myself and, I don’t want to go mad, but I’ve had a lovely break from being so horrible to myself.
