Oh my jingle bells, we’re so close to Christmas! I am struggling to concentrate on anything other than the festive spirit which is making all the productive elements of my life extremely difficult. It’s hard to get shit done when you’re spending most of your waking life prancing around to Mariah Carey, let me tell you.
Anyway, I haven’t done a happiness post for a couple of weeks because I’ve been busy Christmassing (see aforementioned) but there has been lots going on that has made me smile. Check out my Insta for photographic evidence! And now onto five of the things that made me happy this week… (pre-warning: most of these things are Christmas related).
A Christmas do:
On Friday night, I donned a sparkly dress (well, it was black and gold which is about as sparkly as I get where clothes are concerned) and headed to the casino for a Christmas night out with the work gang. I have only ever been to the casino once before so I couldn’t remember how to play anything but, despite this, I managed to win £45! We had such a fun night, I loved the dress I was wearing, and it was so much fun just having money being handed over to me even though I had no real clue what was going on.
Sunday found Greg and I in B&Q holding up a succession of Christmas trees and taking it in turns to assess them from afar in a quest to find the perfect one. Short and stout (a bit like me), it is standing proudly in our bay window looking, and smelling, divine. We listened to a Christmas playlist as we made the house festive and marked a year of living in our lovely little Manchester house. Huzzah!
A clingy cat:
Since traveling to Denmark and leaving the universe’s most majestic cat in the capable hands of our good friends, Juno has been a teeny bit clingy. But in the nicest possible way. She’s all about the head bumps, the cuddles, and the following us around like a furry shadow. She’s so adorable I can barely cope.
A bonus day off:
So my leave days at work had been miscalculated and, because I’m super observant, I didn’t notice until nine months into the work year. In fact, nobody else did either until a colleague had a breakthrough this week and we were all awarded the leave we’d been missing. YAY. To celebrate, I had a bonus day off on Wednesday JUST BECAUSE. And I spent the whole day Christmassing. Talking of which…
I haven’t done any floristry for a number of years but I decided that I wanted to make a wreath for my front door this Christmas. Then, once Mum got wind of this, she wanted one too. So with my bonus day off, I embarked on a journey of trying to remember how to make puff bows and acquiring all of the little cuts and bruises that you forget that floristry involves. And the wreaths turned out okay (see top photograph for evidence)! I’d forgotten how much I enjoy making and it was lovely to reminisce about my forgotten craft. Also, my door looks awesome (and so does Mum’s).
